CHARTERED FISHING TOUR REVIEW: FOXSEA

Fort Lauderdale, Florida is the Yachting Capital of the World. This means there are many beautiful yachts to charter or rent for a day or a month.

This is an experience from a chartered fishing excursion. While I have not yet been on many I have done quite a bit of fishing and boating in my days. This was definitely an experience and I will be doing it again.

The boat that was chartered is named FOXSEA (facebook page here). It is a pink boat and it's crew consisted of a captain and his first mate.

The captain and his first mate were very personable. Our group consisted of 6 people ranging in ages from 3 through 62. Everyone enjoyed themselves, but especially my 10 year old. The captain was really good with children. My 3 year old spent most of his time inside the cabin...

It was spacious and comfortable with ample seating for at least 6 adults with two swivel chairs and a wrap around sofa. It had a fridge, sink , and stove a basic but fully functioning kitchen. We only used the counter to make sandwiches. That is our usual fishing food. It's quick easy and everybody in our family eats cold cuts.

The FoxSea provided a lot of water for us, however, we brought our own drinks. We did end up drinking both as it hot in South Florida in July.

Now on to the fishing review!

Please keep in mind that fishing is just that fishing. There is never a guarantee that you will catch fish. That would be the sport of catching, this here is fishing!

We spent our time trolling the waters of the Atlantic. Trolling is the boat moving at a moderate to slow pace with lines in the water waiting and hoping for a bite.

With 6 people in our group there had to be some structure to how this was going to work. Luckily for us the youngest wanted to be inside most of the time and my mother was happy to be there with him. This gave the other four of us each a chance to catch a fish. Again, no guarantees but we did hit a small school of Arctic Tuna. This gave three of us the chance to catch a fish. We also caught a small to medium Dolphin or Mahi Mahi, a Barracuda, and three Black Belly Rose fish.

All in all it was a good day. Even during the no fish times it was beautiful out there.

I would absolutely recommend this charter, especially to families with children.
